Are You Prepared?
Disasters and emergencies can happen at any time and being adequately prepared with the proper supplies and planning is a smart move.
I’m a worrier, at least somewhat. My natural tendency is to look forward to the future and examine what could go wrong. Sometimes that tendency is a good thing. It’s saved me from a bad decision more than once. But that tendency can also be a bad thing, keeping me from moving ahead with something that only later in hindsight will I realize I should have done.
However, when it comes to preparing for natural disasters and emergencies, most of us don’t prepare enough. Apart from me buying a 4-person short-term disaster survival kit and storing it in my garage, I really haven’t adequately prepared for a potential disaster. I should. We all should.
Now that I think of it though, I do have a go bag next to my bed that I can grab if I have to exit the house suddenly. It has my laptop, full laptop hard drive backup, power supply, portable solar phone charger, cash, and a few other things I consider vital to dealing with a few days of being unable to enjoy the comforts of modern life. I guess I’ve done some preparing.
Still, I don’t think I’ve prepared enough. As I witness the increasing ravages of climate change and realize our extreme weather future is going to be bumpy and at time treacherous, it’s making me…
