Democracy is in peril. So do something.
No citizen of the United States is powerless to affect positive change in political outcomes. There are things you can do now to help Democrats in 2024 and beyond.
Right after Trump was elected, I wrote “After Trump, What Now? I Suggest We Resist.” Part of the reason I wrote that article was to muster some personal courage in the face of a political event that left me shaking my head at the sad direction our country had taken.
However, part of the reason was also because I don’t believe in wallowing in despair for too long. I’d rather take action. I’d rather do something about the situation if I can. The good thing about politics is that every single person can do something to affect change for the better. I sincerely believe that.
So, as I write this, we’re about a year away from the 2024 election cycle. This is an important one. We don’t yet know for sure who the Republican nominee will be, but thus far none of the choices, Trump, DeSantis, or others, are good. Some of them are downright horrific. It appears the era of the reasonable Republican candidate has given way to an abundance of lies and misinformation to deflect from the fact that the Republican members of Congress as well as many state and local Republicans haven’t done much useful for the average American lately.
