This is one of the best articles I've read on Medium lately. That most of us fall prey to rabid capitalism has been on my mind a lot lately. And that we aim for hyper productivity is so misguided.
I'm older and retired from corporate life, but looking back I have some regrets. I wouldn't have climbed the promotion ladders quite so much. I probably would have done other work that was more meaningful. But I accepted the conditioned response to working more and just collecting a paycheck.
I would have done it differently, and the truth is I had it about as good as anyone in corporate life could have it. Great managers. Good pay. Respected. Not overworked. Yet, still, I realize in hindsight I was part of the overall machine of capitalism in a major way and it's disheartening.
