When I posted this article to social media, this is what I said:
I watch television. I have a few favorite shows. I intentionally avoid viewing commitments that will keep me glued to the TV for extended periods. More than an hour or two of watching television makes me a bit nuts sometimes. I keep thinking of better things I could be doing.
Again, nothing wrong with television, but when you look at how many hours of television Americans watch on average, which is 5 to 8 hours a day depending on the study with some of those statistics not factoring in subscription streaming viewing, it seems like a lot. And I know people who admit to couch surfing as an avoidance mechanism.
If people like to watch a lot of television, of course that’s their choice. It just seems like a lot of life passes one by when watching a lot of it.
